Prime Minister of Pakistan Imran Khan has, while showing solidarity with the people of Jammu and Kashmir on Martyrs Day, reiterated his support to the Kashmiris in their struggle for the right to self-determination.
The premier said Pakistan stands with the Kashmiris in their righteous struggle and will not settle till they get their right to self-determination guaranteed by recommendations of the UN Security Council.
Khan said in a tweet, “We are with Kashmiris on the Kashmir Martyrs’ Day and pay tribute to 22 Shuhada of 13 July 1931 – when the Dogra Maharaja’s soldiers opened fire on peaceful protestors”.

He said the struggle of Kashmiris against oppression and illegal Indian Occupation is “rooted in a history of resistance and sacrifice”.
“This unyielding spirit of resistance remains alive as Kashmiris – men and women – keep up their fight against illegal Indian Occupation”, he said.
It is pertinent to mention that Kashmiris on both sides of the Line of Control and the world over are witnessing Kashmir Martyrs Day today to pay homage to martyrs of July 13, 1931.
The All Parties Hurriyat Conference has appealed to the Kashmiri people to mark the day with a complete shutdown in the Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir.
It merits a mention that on 13th July 1931, the troops of Dogra Maharaja killed 22 Kashmiris, one after the other, outside the Central Jail of Srinagar during the court proceedings against Abdul Qadeer who had asked the Kashmiri people to resist the Dogra Rule. Thus, 22 people – primarily youth – sacrificed their lives till the completion of Azaan.
Furthermore, a march towards the Martyrs’ Graveyard in Naqashband Sahib, Srinagar, will also be carried out today where the martyrs of 13th July are buried.
In a statement in Srinagar, the APHC spokesman said that the main motive of the shutdown and the march is to communicate to the world that the Kashmiris will never allow Indian subjugation.
