Asif Ali Zardari said India had taken illegal steps to undermine the recognised disputed status of occupied Kashmir and waged an ongoing campaign to change the demographic structure and political landscape of the Held Valley.
The President Asif Ali Zardari said that India’s domestic laws and court rulings cannot defeat the just struggle of the people of Kashmir.
“For seven decades, the people of Kashmir have been waiting for the promises made by the United Nations to be fulfilled,” the President said.
In a message on Youm-e-Istehsal Kashmir, Prime Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif said that August 5 reminded him of the dark day of exploitation when India illegally abolished the independent status of occupied Kashmir.
He commended the unparalleled courage, daring and bravery of the Kashmiri people in their struggle against the atrocities of the Indian Army.
“The brothers and sisters of Kashmir are resisting all Indian attempts to condemn them legally,” he said.
Shehbaz Sharif, the prime minister, said a lasting peace in South Asia depended on resolving the Jammu and Kashmir dispute.
“Instead of denying the conflicts, India must strive to resolve them”, said the Prime Minister. He added: “Pakistan will continue to extend moral, political and diplomatic support to the Kashmiri people.
“India has proclaimed itself to be the champion of democracy. India should announce an immediate referendum in occupied Kashmir. India should allow international organisations to observe the atrocities committed in Kashmir”, he said.
“Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif is fighting for Kashmir all over the world. We have raised the Kashmir issue in all international forums,” he said.
“Israel has martyred 40,000 Muslim brothers and sisters in Palestine. Ishaq Dar has raised the issue of Palestine and Islamophobia around the world. India has ended the special status of Kashmir to change the map. Pakistan will take all moral and diplomatic steps for the Kashmiris,” he said.
Dr Ishaq Dar said that Kashmiris had decided to flee India and India could never silence the voice of Kashmiris.
Amir Muqam, Federal Minister for States and Frontier Regions, Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan Affairs, said, “Thousands of people have been martyred in Kashmir. Thousands of Kashmiris have been imprisoned by India. This step was taken by India to change the population ratio. There will be ceremonies in foreign missions today too”.

National Assembly Speaker Ayaz Sadiq has issued a message on the occasion of Youm-e-Istehsam to mark Kashmir Day. He declared that August 5, 2019 will forever remain a black day in history.
“On August 5, 2019, India killed the rights of the Kashmiri people. 5 years of confinement imposed on occupied Kashmir came to an end,” he said.
“India will have to restore the special status of the Kashmiri people. It is unacceptable to deprive Kashmiris of their identity. India must stop being stubborn and adopt the path of dialogue and negotiation”, said Ayaz Sadiq.
