‘We appreciate the local artists and designers who participated in the competition showcasing their creativity and talent in this important endeavour. After a rigorous evaluation process conducted by a committee of esteemed experts in the relevant fields, the following designs have been selected for the awards,’ a press release issued by the SBP on Thursday reads.

The pre-selected designs are suggestive in nature and are being shared with the international designers who have been shortlisted to work with SBP to finalise the designs for the new series of banknotes. While the international designers will draw inspiration from local artwork, they will be free to use their own design expertise and imagination to create the final designs for the new banknote series.
‘The SBP will ensure that the new banknote series reflects our nation’s rich cultural heritage and progressive vision, and hopes that the final designs will fully reflect this collaborative effort. The winners will receive a cash prize, as previously announced, in appreciation of their contribution to this important national project.
