The Punjab Government plan includes giving 50,000 cutting-edge laptops to meritorious students under the ‘CM Punjab Laptop Scheme 2025’, reported by ARY News. The rollout of the first shipment of devices has begun in Pakistan, coinciding with Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz recent announcement that the first shipment of devices has come to the country. The scheme places particular emphasis on inclusivity, with 2,000 of the laptops allocated for minority students and high achievers in the Secondary and Higher Secondary School Examinations.
As a part of that comprehensive distribution plan, 20,000 laptops will be distributed to university students, 14,000 to college students, 4,000 to tech and ag students, 2,000 to medical and dental college students and 32% of the total amount will be distributed among South Punjab’s educational institutions. The program will begin according to Ramadan 2025 and registration will start in February 2025.
The scheme will be available to students pursuing computer science, medicine, science, engineering, business, language, veterinary medicine and agriculture. Educational institutions will manage the distribution process by collecting and validating the student data from HEC Punjab, which will finally select students.
With 13th generation laptops, and Core i7 processors, the government pledges to provide students with modern technology tools, and will distribute these laptops to them. The registration process has become simplified and transparent by eliminating the use of an online application platform while ensuring the collection of the data is done by educational institutions. The final selection process along with lists of the chosen beneficiaries will be done by the HEC Punjab.
Under the Honhaar scholarship program, the Chief Minister intends to be present at the laptop distribution ceremony at different places personally. Consequently, this personal involvement to a great length represents the government’s seriousness in fostering digital literacy and academic excellence in the scope of the student population in Punjab.
