PTI Founding member Akbar S. Babar is set to Challenge the Peshawar High Court’s (PHC) recent Verdict which Suspended the Election Commission of Pakistan’s (ECP) decision and Reinstated the Party’s Electoral Symbol bat.On December 22 the ECP Nullified PTI’s intra-Party Polls including the Removal of the “bat” Symbol in response to Akbar S. Babar’s petition citing violations of Party Rules. In Response the PTI filed a Petition in the PHC Contesting the ECP’s Decision. The PHC after hearing the Case Suspended the ECP’s Decision and Restored the Party’s Electoral Symbol.
Akbar S. Babar expressed his intention to Challenge the PHC’s verdict at various judicial levels emphasizing the importance of upholding the rights of Party workers to elect Leadership based on Merit. He Criticized the trend of Political Parties functioning as family fiefdoms and Stressed the Need for Parties to be accountable to their members in accordance with the Constitution and the Law.

The PHC Suspended the ECP’s order directing the Election Commission to Publish the Certificate on its Website and Restore the “bat” Symbol to PTI until January 9, 2024.
