The twin Cities of Islamabad and Rawalpindi are Grappling with a Significant Surge in Poultry Prices Witnessing a 30% increase in the last six months. A recent Market Survey Conducted by APP Revealed a 30% Rise in Chicken Prices and a Corresponding 33% increase in the Cost of Poultry Eggs over this Period.
As of the last week of January live chicken Prices Ranged between Rs420 and Rs440 per kg, whole Chicken meat was being Sold at Rs680 to Rs700 Per Kg in both Cities. Additionally Poultry Eggs during this time were Priced between Rs390 and Rs405 Per Dozen.
Chairman of the Pakistan Poultry Association (PPA), Chaudhry Muhammad Ashraf attributed the Surge to Supply and Demand Dynamics. He Highlighted Challenges in the Poultry Business including increased input Costs and the Overall Cost of Operations leading to a market Crisis. The Economic Conditions in the Country along with Expensive imported Poultry Feed ingredients like Soybean have Contributed to the Current Situation.
Chaudhry Ashraf emphasized that the Economic Crisis is Particularly affecting Small Businesses and Poultry Farms Leading to Closures in Various Provinces. The Shortage and Expensive Nature of Soybeans a Vital Component of Poultry Feed have further Exacerbated the challenges faced by the Poultry industry.
