Ambassador Akram said that inroads and other projects through Afghanistan could help make the region more stable. He further said that it was a pity that one big country’s desire to be the boss has stopped another group called SAARC from working well together.

Pakistan’s Plans for CPEC

On the 18th of July, a meeting was held to review the progress of the CPEC plans. The Minister of Planning of Pakistan, Ahsan Iqbal, presided over it. He took under discussion what the PM of Pakistan and Chinese leadership decided upon during the recent visit of the Prime Minister to China.

According to Iqbal, Pakistan and China are on the same page regarding the way forward on CPEC. This next phase of the project has been dubbed “CPEC 2.0″. The minister visited China last week to discuss these plans in greater detail.

Why CPEC is Important

He asserts that lots of countries were interested in the development of the economy of China. He said that in 2018, the maximum benefit of the Chinese business style was being availed by Pakistan because of CPEC.

CPEC is helping Pakistan build several important things, such as roads, railways, and power plants. Now, they want to do even more and probably help Afghanistan too. This may facilitate travel and trading for all in this area; probably it will bring more peace and improve the lives of people.
