In a recent Press Statement Pakistan Strongly Condemned the Construction and Consecration of the ‘Ram Temple’ on the Site where the Historic Babri Mosque once Stood in Ayodhya India. The Spokesperson for the Foreign Office Called on the international Community, Particularly the United Nations to take Notice of the increasing instances of Islamophobia, Hate Speech and Hate Crimes in India.

The Statement Urged international Organizations to Play a Role in Safeguarding Islamic Heritage Sites in India from Extremist Groups and Ensuring the Protection of the Religious and Cultural Rights of Minorities. Pakistan Emphasized the need for the Indian Government to Prioritize the Safety and Security of Religious Minorities including Muslims and their Sacred Places.

The Babri Mosque with Centuries of History was Tragically Demolished by a Mob of Extremists on December 6 1992. The Spokesperson expressed dismay that not only were the Criminals Responsible for the act acquitted by India’s Superior judiciary but the Construction of a temple on the Site was also Permitted.

The Spokesperson lamented the Developments over the Past 31 Years, Highlighting a Growing trend of Majoritarianism in India. These events including the Consecration Ceremony are Seen as Part of Broader efforts to Marginalize Indian Muslims Socially, Economically and Politically.

A Temple Erected on the remains of a Demolished Mosque the Spokesperson asserted would leave a lasting Stain on India’s Democratic Values. The Rise of the ‘Hindutva’ ideology was identified as a Serious threat to Religious Harmony and Regional Peace. The Spokesperson Quoted Chief ministers from major Indian States Uttar Pradesh and Madhya Pradesh, who Referred to the Babri Mosque’s Demolition and the ‘Ram Temple’ inauguration as steps toward Reclaiming Parts of Pakistan.
