In recent times, several deepfake videos featuring a woman resembling Hania Aamir have gone viral on social media.
Using artificial intelligence technology, these videos were created artificially, fooling many of the young woman’s fans into believing that they were real.
Following the broadcast of these videos, Hania Aamir took to her Instagram story, stating that they were fake videos and not hers.
She identified the Instagram account ‘Anwrit Sindhu’ that was sharing the deepfake videos.
Managed by an Indian citizen, the account had more than 22,400 followers and more than 100 posts, most of them featuring fake videos of the actress.
She encouraged her fans to report the account, revealing that she had been blocked by the user. Hania’s fans were quick to react, leading the user to change the name of the account to ‘Core Sindhu’ in order to avoid being reported.
However, despite the name change, the account was discovered and the user ended up deleting all of Hania’s deepfake videos.
Created in September 2022, the account changed its name 18 times and was located in Chandigarh, India.
The quick action of the actress and her fans resulted in the damaging content being removed from the platform.
