The weather office says that the a possibility of a lot of rain in Sindh. They have stated that Karachi can receive as much as 200mm of rainfall and the other cities can receive 500mm; the government of the state is very concerned about it. They’re getting ready in case there’s flooding in the cities.

Big Meeting: Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah presided over the major meeting. Many notable people, including Ministers and Mayors, were present during the meeting. The weather experts briefed them on the upcoming rain.

Rainfall Predictions

From August 27 to August 30, the weather persons discussed a high probability of heavy rainfall. Some cities like Thatta, Sujawal, and Badin may receive more than 500 mm of rainfall. Karachi may receive 200 mm.

Due to the weather system, heavy rain can flood many cities. Such big cities include Karachi, Hyderabad, and Mirpurkhas. And in other areas, such as Sukkur and Larkana, rains may cause accumulation on the ground. Stronger winds might also cause damage to some things such as trees and electric wires.

Getting Ready for the Rain

The Chief Minister told everybody to get ready. He wants all the city workers and water departments to be ready to go and help in case of an emergency.

Local Government Minister Saeed Ghani said that they have been cleaning the big drains in Karachi. These will help in the flow of water when it rains. They do it in other big cities also.

Karachi’s Mayor is Helping Too

He said he has given machines to clean the drains to the different city areas and has also alerted the water and sewage department if the water starts accumulating in the low-lying areas, they have machines to pump it out.

The Chief Minister issued directives to the city authorities to restrict people from going towards the sea during the rain. He also wants fishermen to take cautionary measures and be responsible.

Emergency Supplies Ready

The government has readied the supplies of emergencies. These include tents, sheets, mosquito nets, blankets, and water coolers. In case of an emergency, they will send these things to those areas where help is needed.

The Chief Minister ordered the water department to continuously monitor the rivers. They have to make sure that the water does not overflow and create further floods.

This warning of rain has made everybody in the Sindh government work hard in preparation. They are trying their utmost to save the people and avoid any problems regarding heavy rain.
