Initiated under the directive of Caretaker Federal Minister for Health, Dr. Nadeem Jan the Campaign is aimed at ensuring the availability of Genuine and affordable Medications for the Public.
Distributors, pharmacies, and medical stores are facing intensive Scrutiny through Raids Conducted in major Cities across the Country. In Karachi the Drug Regulatory Authority of Pakistan (DRAP) team has been inspecting Pharmacies and Medical Stores in various areas exposing instances of illicit Practices.
During a recent raid at Irfan Medicos in DHA Karachi and Several Pharmacies in Gulshan Iqbal and Gulistan Johar alarming discrepancies were discovered. Notably Heparin injection an essential Medical component was Found being Sold at an exorbitant Price of Rs 3500 far exceeding the approved cost of Rs 800.
Similarly Tramal Injection, Augmentin DS Suspension, and Hydraline Syrup were also identified as being sold at inflated prices. Medicines such as Ventolin Inhaler, Tegeral, and Augmentin DS tablets were found to be subjected to the same malpractice, prompting immediate seizure and sealing by health authorities.
The Minister for Health has initiated legal proceedings against the implicated Pharmacy Owners utilizing the Drug Regulatory Authority of Pakistan Act. Dr. Nadeem Jan Emphasized that strict actions will be taken against those Exploiting and Jeopardizing Public Health.
