(C)Geo,pakistan congratulates donald trump on his second term as president of the united states
On Wednesday, Donald Trump was elected the 47th president of the United States of America, capping a remarkable comeback after four years outside the White House and ushering in a new American leadership that is likely to test democratic institutions at home and relationships abroad.
After Trump’s victory speech to his supporters earlier in the day, Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif congratulated him on his return to the White House after defeating Democratic candidate Kamala Harris.
Prime Minister Shahbaz wrote in his post: “I look forward to working closely with the incoming administration to strengthen and expand the Pakistan-US partnership @realDonaldTrump.”
Meanwhile, Omar Ayub Khan – Leader of the Opposition in the National Assembly and member of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf – congratulated Trump and his Vice President-elect JD Vance on winning the election.
He wrote in a post on X’s website: “It is hoped that this team will foster better relations between the people of Pakistan and the people of the United States.”
The PTI also took to its official X account to congratulate the Republican candidate and vice president-elect, noting that the people of the United States had spoken and “their mandate was honored.”
“In stark contrast to Pakistan, where the people’s mandate was blatantly stolen,” it added.
These wishes are also significant because the party, according to Defense Minister Khawaja Asif’s allegations, has urged foreign powers to influence Pakistan to release the party’s founder and ensure his transfer abroad.
During his tenure as Pakistan’s prime minister, Imran had cordial relations with the Trump administration, which is why the PPP is celebrating the U.S. president-elect’s return to power as a potential advantage.
Describing the Republican victory and mandate as “anti-war,” Bilawal wrote: “We hope the new administration will prioritize peace and help end the cycle of perpetual global conflict.”
