According to WAM, the UAE stood as the leading humanitarian donor of the United Arab Emirates in the total amount of $828 million offered. The United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs has estimated that contributions made by the UAE stand at an approximate 42% share of international aid that will go toward treating an unconscionable humanitarian crisis unfolding in Gaza.
The humanitarian action of the UAE is not limited to financial aid, and they execute a complex model of relief that includes maritime and air transport as well as accurate logistics.
The United Arab Emirates executed an intricate supply chain operation that cost about $11,001,751 with multiple delivery modes to meet the various needs. Starting January and into February, the UAE conducted 28 lifesaving flights of 1,000 tons of critical aid materials, worth $7,165,200. In support of these flights, the specialized maritime logistics initiative also included a $245,031 payment to the Assyria shipping company to facilitate direct food aid transfer from the Cyprus Humanitarian Maritime Corridor into the coastline of Gaza. Also deployed were two ships carrying 240 tonnes of diverse relief supplies, valued at $3,591,520.
Alone in the year 2024, the country has spent about $94,766,761 in helping the emergency sectors and delivered over 7817 US tonnes of important supplies. These well-coordinated operations have been aimed at delivering food, medical supplies, building materials, warm clothing, and nutrition products for children which are the immediate requirements for the suffering population of Gaza.
In the following series of coordinated operations, the UAE has shown one of the ways in which humanitarian aid can be provided. This effort involves nine large vessels in the form of maritime aid ships which transported 9,174 tonnes of relief products, besides 74 strategic airlifts which airlifted 2,447 tonnes of essential commodities.
One of the most striking elements of their mission was that it entailed a specific financial settlement with the Assyria shipping company to effect the conveyance of food aid from the Cyprus Humanitarian Maritime Corridor, an indication of the richness of its humanitarian agenda.
