pti leader announces sit in for imran khan’s release

Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Sher Afzal Marwat recently announced plans for a sit-in to demand the release of party founder and former Prime Minister Imran Khan from jail. He believes that staging a protest in Islamabad could make Imran Khan’s release easier within a month. Sher Afzal Marwat emphasized that besides legal procedures, political struggle is crucial for Imran Khan’s release.

According to Sher Afzal Marwat, Imran Khan and the party have agreed to start protests after April 21. If the government resorts to force to suppress protests, PTI might organize a march towards Islamabad.

Sher Afzal Marwat mentioned that PTI is considering readmitting some leaders who left after the May 9 riots. While there’s no fixed criteria, Imran Khan suggested that two to three individuals might be allowed back. However, those who publicly criticized PTI may not be readmitted.

Names like Usman Dar, Maleeka Bokhari, Ali Nawaz Awan, and Aon Abbas are being considered for readmission. However, there’s opposition to Fawad Chaudhry rejoining PTI despite his attempts.

Marwat accused former finance minister Asad Umar of leaving PTI after being promised relief in a legal case. Marwat tried to persuade the PTI leadership to reconsider Umar’s return, but Imran Khan declined.

These Developments indicate internal dynamics within PTI and its efforts to maintain unity while pursuing its political goals. The sit-in plan reflects the party’s determination to assert its demands through public mobilization. However, the decision on reaccepting former members underscores the complexities of party politics and the considerations involved in managing its ranks.
