Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif is currently in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) for a one-day visit. During his stay, he is speaking to a group of shareholders from the information technology (IT) community in Abu Dhabi. In his speech, the Prime Minister stressed that the reason for his visit is not to ask for loans but to look for chances to work together and get investment between Pakistan and the UAE.
Warm Welcome in Abu Dhabi
When PM Shehbaz arrived in Abu Dhabi earlier today, the UAE Vice President and Deputy Prime Minister, Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, welcomed him warmly. The Pakistani ambassador to the UAE, the Emirati ambassador to Pakistan, and other important officials from both countries were also there to greet the Prime Minister.
Shortly after his arrival, PM Shehbaz said the visit is “short but important” and expressed his eagerness to have helpful talks with the UAE leaders to make the historic and brotherly ties between the two nations even stronger.
VIPs Traveling with PM
The Prime Minister is traveling with a group of important cabinet members, including Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar, Defense Minister Khawaja Asif, Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi, Information Minister Attaullah Tarar, Commerce Minister Jam Kamal Khan, and Special Assistant to the PM Tariq Fatemi.
Talks on Trade and Investment
During his visit, PM Shehbaz is expected to meet with the UAE President and Ruler of Abu Dhabi, Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan. The two important leaders will talk about the relationship between Pakistan and the UAE, with a special focus on trade and buying and selling things. The Prime Minister is also likely to meet other Emirati important people, businesspeople, and heads of financial institutions.
Making Brotherly Ties Stronger
According to the Foreign Office of Pakistan, both Pakistan and the UAE share long-standing brotherly relations deeply rooted in religion and culture. Such high-level meetings are a special feature of the brotherly ties between the two countries. The visit is considered an important step towards making the many-sided teamwork between Pakistan and the UAE even stronger.
Recent High-Level Meetings
The Prime Minister’s visit to the UAE comes after recent high-level meetings between Pakistan and Saudi Arabia over the past two months, including two trips made by PM Shehbaz to the Kingdom in April. His previous visit to the UAE was in July 2023, during his earlier term as Prime Minister, to offer sympathies on the passing of the UAE President’s brother. Before that, he made a two-day trip to the Gulf nation in January 2023 to strengthen economic, trade, and investment ties.
