Pakistan and China have a big project called the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC). It is part of China’s big plan called the Belt and Road Initiative. The CPEC is about building roads, railways, ports, oil pipelines, and power plants in Pakistan. This will connect Pakistan’s southern coast to China’s Xinjiang region in the north. China has spent around $65 billion on this big project.

Problems

But the CPEC project has not been very successful so far. Not many private companies have invested in it. One big problem is terrorism. Militant groups, both Islamist and separatist, have attacked Chinese companies working in Pakistan. Recently, a suicide attack killed six Chinese engineers.

What PM Wants

During his visit, PM Sharif will meet with China’s President Xi Jinping and Premier Li Qiang. He will also talk to Chinese business leaders from energy and technology companies. PM Sharif wants China’s support to make the CPEC project better. He may ask for help with security issues that are scaring away private investors. He may also ask to change some rules of the project to make it more attractive.

More Than Just CPEC

Apart from the CPEC, PM Sharif will discuss other ways for Pakistan and China to work together economically. They may talk about making trade easier, working together in farming, energy, and technology. They may also discuss ways to bring the people of both countries closer through cultural and education programs.

PM Sharif’s trip is very very important. It is important for the big Pakistan-China project called CPEC. It is also important for business between Pakistan and China. Pakistan needs China’s help to make the CPEC project do well. If the CPEC does well, it will bring many jobs and growth to Pakistan. If PM Sharif’s visit to China goes good, it can help Pakistan’s economy become better.
