Sarwar Bhatti, the producer of the 1979 blockbuster movie Maula Jatt, passed away on Monday, his daughter said in a Facebook post.
“It is with a heavy heart I share the extremely sad news that my beloved father ‘Muhammad Sarwar Bhatti’ famous film producer of Pakistani Maula Jatt fame has passed away a while ago,” it read.
She also requested prayers for her father and for her family during the difficult time. Bhatti suffered a heart attack, according to reports. He was taken to the hospital late at night after experiencing breathing difficulties, but unfortunately, he could not be saved and passed away.
The funeral prayer for Bhatti will be held after the Isha prayer at Data Darbar in Lahore, the family said.
Upon hearing the news of his passing, relatives and members of the film industry expressed sorrow and praised his contributions to the cinematic field.
