The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government is about to change the face of digital transformation with the launch of a Universal Digital Payment System across the province, which will transform the scenario of transactions and business payments as hitherto witnessed.
The initiative, entitled “Cashless Khyber Pakhtunkhwa,” will cover a meticulous implementation strategy bifurcating clear roles for various departments, institutions, and local administrations. The vision is pretty straightforward: make digital payments the norm for public-private transactions and businesses, irrespective of size.
This not only makes the payment process simple for businesses but also eases living for the common man. In all, this province will be the first-ever province in Pakistan to come up with such kind of ambitious cashless systems. The Universal Digital Payment System will introduce the partnership of mobile companies offering versatile online payment services with excellent experience.
Another salient feature of this system is that it will work both online and offline and thus will have reach in low internet connectivity to poor areas. Collecting information at the village level will be such that every shop, vendor, stall, and kiosk will be brought into the flow.
Mandatory display of QR codes across businesses, public transport services, and commercial centers form another critical component of the Cashless Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Initiative. This, coupled with other interventions, will smoothen the payment process for customers in that they will be able to pay digitally anywhere they go.
A robust regulatory framework will ensure such success for the system. The supervisory implementation by district administrations will be aided by a comprehensive public awareness campaign about the new system.
Khyber Pakhtunkhwa is bold in its entry into the future, drawing the rest of the country into this envelope: an entire society cast into the archive of innovative digital payment.
