israeli airstrike claims lives of al jazeera journalists in gaza
In a tragic incident on Sunday, an Israeli airstrike hit a car near Rafah in southern Gaza, killing two journalists untimely. Al-Jazeera-affiliated journalists Hamza Al-Dahad and Mustafa Thoria are also among the victims. The two were on their way to report for the channel in the Gaza Strip when the incident occurred, according to the territory’s health ministry.
Al Jazeera’s Gaza bureau chief and Hamza’s father, Wael al-Dahdoh, had already gained public attention when he received the devastating news during a live broadcast in October that his wife, daughter, grandson and 15-year-old son had been killed by an Israeli air force. He lost his life in the attack. The recent strike added to their grief as they lost their elder son and another journalist in the latest attack. Witnesses said the car was hit by two rockets, one hitting the front of the car and the other directly hitting Hamza, who was sitting next to the driver.

A heartbreaking video posted on an Al Jazeera-affiliated YouTube channel captured the emotional moment Wael al-Dahdouh mourned beside his son’s lifeless body. Later, after the burial, he emphasized the determination of Gazan journalists to continue their work, saying, “The whole world needs to see what is happening here.” These events show the challenges journalists face in conflict zones and the profound impact such events have on families and communities.
