The Punjab Education Department has recently changed the announced PEC winter vacations dates for all schools in Punjab announced recently. As per the new notification, all private as well as government schools would remain closed on winter vacations from December 23 instead of closing from December 20 as earlier decided. This break up will further go on till January 10, 2025 so that there should not be any difference in holidays of students and teachers of Punjab.
This change of the calendar implies that schools will only resume on the 13th of January, 2025, with a consideration to the weekly offs of Saturday and Sunday, the 11th and 12th of January respectively. This change is intended to give a uniform rest to all the schools in the province for students and their teachers during the cold season.
The Sindh government has also come up with an important notification which is also a relief given to the students and parents. Schools have been ordered by the Sindh Education Minister, Syed Sardar Ali Shah, to ease up on the dress code during winter. A letter recently released by the Directorate of Private Institutions allows students to wear personal warm clothes, contrary to strict dress codes in the past.
