26711 pilgrims visit saudi arabia for hajj 2024
Hajj is one of the fifth pillars of Islam. Hajj refers to a special religious journey that Muslims take to visit the holy city of Mecca, which is situated in Saudi Arabia.
The Religion Ministry of Pakistan spokesperson stated that 26,711 pilgrims from Pakistan have arrived in Saudi Arabia for the Hajj next month. Saudi Arabia witnessed the surge in pilgrims only less than two weeks after pre-Hajj operations were started by the country.
Hajj 2024
The pilgrimage will start from June 14 to June 19.The flights for Hajj have already started from May 9, 2024. For this year’s Hajj, around 179,210 Pakistanis will perform their pilgrimages under both public and private schemes. A spokesperson for the Religious Affairs Ministry stated that “26,711 pilgrims have already reached Saudi Arabia through 109 flights.” He also said, “After staying in Madinah for eight days, the first group of pilgrims of around 6,011 in number has left for Makkah”.
The spokesperson also said that around 1000 pilgrims for Hajj have reached Saudi Arabia through private schemes. Also, 336 assistants called ‘Hajj Moavineen’ are helping every Pakistani pilgrim ensure a smooth journey.
The Federal Minister for Religious Affairs of Pakistan also visited Saudi Arabia.
Chaudhry Salik Hussain, Federal Minister for Religious Affairs, has also visited the Makkah’s residences for pilgrims to review the situation of travel and food arrangements. The minister has also organised a meeting with the Saudi counterpart.
Hajj is very important for every Muslim and is considered the fifth pillar of Islam. Every Muslim has to pay a visit to Makkah at least once in their lifetime.
Pilgrims from Pakistan’s Karachi are using the Makkah Route Initiative for the first time, which was launched in 2019. Under this initiative, Pakistani pilgrims can complete the procedures of their immigration in Pakistan only, which reduces the waiting time for arrival in Saudi Arabia.
