Government Raised Fuel Prices By Up to 29 Percent:
The government raised fuel prices by up to 29 percent on Wednesday, removing subsidies in an attempt to trim the fiscal deficit and get critical support from the International Monetary Fund (IMF).
It is pertinent to state that this is the third cut in fuel subsidies in 20 days.
The prices of high-speed diesel, kerosene, petrol, and light diesel oil (LDO) have gone up by a whopping 83pc, 73pc, 56pc, and 68.4pc, respectively, since May 26.
The ex-depot price of petrol currently stands at Rs233.89 per liter, kerosene Rs211.43, HSD Rs263.31,and LDO Rs207.47.
